At MOVE we practise Power Vinyasa, an energetic and dynamic style of yoga usually practised in a heated room, which has become popular in Western society over the past few years. Its challenging postures focus on a balance of strength and flexibility. Power Vinyasa links movement to the breath, producing a cardiovascular type of exercise which is unlike any exercise out there! Often sequences of the same postures are repeated in order for the student to get familiar with them and to find a rhythm to their practice. That said, many love the practice because of its diversity, so be prepared to be challenged.
Hot Flow - 35 degree heat. An energetic and dynamic style of vinyasa yoga with bursts of energy & effort followed by short recovery breaks. Rather than long holds, expect more fluid movement and transitions. Advanced students can advance their practise, but beginner students will follow along with our accessible sequences. Expect to sweat! Intermediate to Advanced level.
Yoga Sculpt - 28 degree heat. When muscle meets yoga, Power Yoga Sculpt is born. Boost metabolism and build lean muscle mass as you move to upbeat tracks. You’ll combine free weights with MOVE Powerflow sequencing and cardio to intensify each yoga pose while mixing in strength-training moves like squats, lunges and bicep curls. Room heated to 25 degrees, expect to sweat!
Power Flow - 30 degree heat. Straight into movement, lots of core, and a focus on building strength & stability. Link movement with powerful breath, producing a cardiovascular type of exercise which is unlike any exercise out there! Often postures are repeated in order for the student to get familiar with them. Intermediate Level.
Move & Let Go - 30 degrees beginning with a Vinyasa flow and ending in a deep fascial release to allow the tissues to recover. This class is a balance of strengthening yoga poses and muscular release which will create space in your body, enabling you to get deeper into your practise This class will leave you feeling like you have been at a spa. Good for beginners.
Yin Yoga - 25 degrees. While Hot & Power classes are considered "yang" with a focus on muscular movement, yin yoga targets the deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower but not necessarily "easier", giving you space to turn inward and tune into the physical sensations of your body & stretch out those tight tissues. Ambient 25 Degrees. Beginner friendly.
Whilst the Hot Flow Classes are Intermediate to Advanced level, they can be quite strong. If you are brand new to yoga you are recommended to attend our Power Flow, Yin Yoga or Move & Let Go classes. We make yoga accessible to everyone. As you are starting out with yoga it is best that you choose a spot in the middle/back of the room Please try and come to as many classes and styles as possible and aim to come at least 3 times a week. It takes at least 1 month of regular practise to get familiar with the poses in yoga, but you will feel a difference even after your first few days.

Yes! The myth that yoga is a nice relaxing stretch without any strength is starting to disperse in Australia. The yoga industry is starting to get traction, as practitioners have increased cardiovascular fitness, deeper lung volume through breath awareness, removal of toxins from the body from internal and external heat and muscular strength. Who doesn’t love to sweat? The endorphins that flow after a yoga class make you feel amazing, and your skin glows as toxins are released through the pores.
The first thing you need to do is let us know about the injury before your practice. Our teachers are experts in their field and have strong anatomy knowledge and the ability to modify the practice and give different variations for students with injury. The benefits of a safe and regular yoga practice on healing old injuries are strong, as we start to work into all areas of the muscles, skeletal alignment and facial tissue. That said, it is important to ensure you seek appropriate medical advice prior to commencing a yoga practice if you are recovering from an injury.
Generally, our classes are not designed for pregnant women. We do offer Yin Classes which are less intensive, however they are targeted to stress the connective tissue so it is important to modify your practise and not push too deepr into the tissues. Power Vinyasa increases your heart rate during your practice and it can be unsafe to practise during pregnancy. It is important to consult your medical practitioner prior to practising during pregnancy. Our classes can be busy and often the instructor is not able to get around to all students to help modify their practice so it is important to keep this in mind.
Unfortunately, we are unable to facilitate private health insurance claims for your yoga classes at MOVE. Whilst we would love to be able to do this, this is not possible as claims are made against the individual instructor as opposed to the studio. For you to make a claim, an instructor would be required to be a member of Yoga Australia, which is stipulated by the health insurance providers. However, because this membership is not mandatory, many instructors (including some at MOVE) do not have a membership. Please note that membership to Yoga Australia does not reflect on the certification or capabilities of the individual instructor. If you would like more information regarding this, please feel free to discuss with us in studio.
